Our Services

Asbestos removal

Asbestos Removal Plans and Sampling

Asbestos is common throughout New Zealand and can be found in many homes and commercial properties. Our consultants are asbestos testing experts who use robust sampling and air-monitoring methodologies to identify Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM). This testing process meets the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations (2016) and the good practice guidelines for conducting asbestos surveys issued by WorkSafe NZ.

All samples are sent to an IANZ accredited asbestos testing laboratory who employ strict procedures during analysis. Bulk-samples are tested using polarised light microscopy including dispersion staining in accordance with the Australian Standard AS4964-2004 (Method for the qualitative identification of asbestos in bulk samples).

Asbestos Testing and Clearances

When asbestos removal takes place on your property, it is important that it is done with the utmost safety in mind. You should feel confident knowing it is completely safe to reoccupy the building after the ACM has been removed. You’ll receive a detailed asbestos removal plan that follows best practice air-monitoring methodologies to ensure that the removal is in line with current legislation. Our team will also issue clearance certification after the job is complete.

Air-filters are checked by an IANZ accredited laboratory in accordance with NOHSC – Guidance Note on the Membrane Filter Method for the Estimation of Airborne Asbestos Fibres, 2nd Edition, [NOHSC:3003 (2005)].

Asbestos Assessments and Surveying

Get advice from experienced asbestos surveyors. Our assessors each have at least 10 years of experience undertaking asbestos surveys in a variety of contexts including management, refurbishment, and demolition. Our team will prepare a comprehensive report that includes an asbestos register, and management plan that identifies and quantifies ACM within the scope of the property being surveyed.

The asbestos register and management plan are important documents for any contractor before they undertake remediation or demolition work. Recent legislation (April 2018) recognises these documents as essential to legislative health and safety compliance.

Water Testing and Quality Assurance

New Zealanders are proud of our clean, green image which is worth billions of dollars to our economy.

A large part of maintaining this image is ensuring that our waterways, streams, and rivers in both rural and urban areas are free from waterborne contaminants, such as harmful trace elements and bacteria (Campylobacter, E. coli, and Salmonella). We use best practice methodology and industry-leading technology for both sampling and analysis.

Mould and Meth. Sampling and Consultancy

Mould and dampness affects around half of New Zealand’s homes. Mould is a dangerous growth that can expose occupants to allergens or toxins, and if mould spores are inhaled in large quantities this can cause serious health problems. OEC’s clients include Govt Depts (e.g. EQC) and Real Estate Companies. If you believe that your property has a mould issue then contact us.  Protect your health, and the health of loved ones.

Meth. has become a societal problem in recent years and this extends to people who own, rent or want to buy property. If you are unsure if your property is contaminated, call us to get advice and we will work with you to find cost-effective solutions.
